Title page reads “SOUTH GEORGIA REBELS: THE TRUE WARTIME EXPERIENCES OF THE 26TH GEORGIA VOLUNTEER INFANTRY. LAWTON – GORDON – EVANS BRIGADE, CONFEDERATE STATES ARMY 1861-1865” by Alton J. Murray and published by the author in 1976.

Hardcover is bound in blue cloth with the title in gold on the front cover and repeated on the spine. Covers are excellent and in like new condition. There is no dustjacket. Book is in very nice condition for its age.

Volume meas. approx. 6.00 x 9.00 inches and runs 326 pages with roster and index.

Binding is excellent and the interior is very clean. Text has several black and white photographs, drawings and maps.

The 26th Georgia was organized on August 17, 1861 and served in The Department of South Carolina, Georgia and Florida as well as in the Army of Northern Virginia. The regiment was present with Lee’s army from the Peninsula to Appomattox with their heaviest losses coming at 2nd Manassas, Spotsylvania and Monocacy. [AD] [PH:L]
