Title page reads “A HISTORY OF THE 48TH GEORGIA INFANTRY REGIMENT: FOR HOME AND THE SOUTHLAND” by John Zwemer and published as volume 11 of the Army of Northern Virgnia Series by Butternut and Blue of Baltimore, Maryland in 1999 and limited to 1000 copies.
Hardcover is bound in red cloth with the title in gold on the cove and spine. Covers are excellent and in like new condition as is the illustrated dustjacket which is covered in Mylar.
Volume meas. approx. 6.00 x 9.00 inches and runs 225 pages with roster and index.
Binding is excellent and the interior is very clean. Book has fourteen black & white photographs, three drawing and several maps.
The 48th Georgia was organized on March 22, 1862 and served its time in the Army of Northern Virginia and took all the campaigns of that army suffering heavily at 2nd Manassas, Antietam and Gettysburg. [AD] [PH:L]
