The title page of this book is missing. It is simply titled “THE ARMY CHAPLAIN” and it was written by W. Y. Brown in 1863.
Book is hardbound with stippled black cloth covers with the title and author in gold on the spine. Covers are in good condition and show light wear. Spine has several small separations but nothing major.
The volume meas. approx. 4.00 x 6.00 inches and runs 144 pages.
Binding is tight. One or two pages have dog-eared corners. Pages have browned with age and show scattered foxing. Inside the book are two pressed flowers and a lock of hair.
Inside front cover has a period ink ID of “IDA B. DEAL’S BOOK.” There is also a pencil notation that reads “W. Y. BROWN, AUG 8th 1863, WASHINGTON.” [ad] [ph:L]
