This title was part of The Virginia Regimental Histories Series produced by H. E. Howard during the 1980’s and ‘90’s.
This second edition was written by Frank E. Fields, Jr. and was published in 1985.
Volume meas. approx. 6.00 x 9.00 inches and runs 89 pages with roster, three black and white photographs and several maps.
Hardcover is gray cloth with the title and the great seal of the Confederacy embossed in gold on the front cover. Title and author repeated on the spine. Covers are excellent.
Binding is excellent. Page edges have yellowed some with age.
The 28th Virginia was organized on May 17, 1861 and served mostly with the Army of Northern Virginia as well as in several other departments. They lost heavily on the Peninsula, 2nd Manassas, Boonesboro/Antietam and Gettysburg. [ad][ph:L]
