This first edition was written by Richard O’Sullivan and was published in 1989. This book is number 861 of 1000 copies and is signed by the author.
Volume meas. approx. 6.00 x 9.00 inches and runs 160 pages with roster, five black and white photographs, sixteen sketches and several maps.
Hardcover is gray cloth with the title and the great seal of the Confederacy embossed in gold on the front cover. Title and author repeated on the spine. Covers are excellent.
Binding is excellent. Page edges have yellowed some with age.
The 55th Virginia was organized on September 1, 1861 and served mostly with the Army of Northern Virginia. They lost heavily on the Peninsula, 2nd Manassas, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, Falling Waters, and the Wilderness. [ad][ph:L]
