The full title of this work is “THE ORDNANCE MANUAL FOR THE USE OF THE OFFICERS OF THE CONFEDERATE STATES ARMY – PREPARED UNDER THE DIRECTION OF COL. J. GORGAS, CHIEF OF ORDNANCE, AND APPROVED BY THE SECRETARY OF WAR.” Reprinted by Morningside Press of Dayton, Ohio in 1995.

This hardbound volume is wrapped blue cloth with blank covers. Spine has title and publisher in gold ink. Covers are in very good condition and are like new.

Volume meas. approx. 6.00 x 9.00 inches and runs 546 pages with index plus 33 plates showing cannon, artillery implements, horse equipment, caissons, limbers, forge, ammunition storage etc… Volume has several black and white drawings, charts and tables.

Binding is excellent. Interior is clean.

Dean S. Thomas was known as a onetime Gettysburg Battlefield Guide and early relic hunter as well as the founder, owner, and operator of Thomas Publications. He was also the author of many books related to Civil War ammunition and projectiles.   [ad] [ph:L]
