This set of books is not often encountered in single volumes let alone a complete set of all 7 matching volumes.
The title is simply “GEORGE WASHINGTON: A BIOGRAPHY” by Douglas Southall Freeman and published by Charles Scribner’s Sons in 1948
Each of the 7 volumes are hardcover and bound in blue cloth with an embossed Washington family crest on the front cover. Title, volume number and author are in gold on the spine. Each book meas. 6.00 x 9.00 inches.
All volumes have map endpapers except for volume 7 which has end papers relating to Mount Vernon. All bindings are excellent. Volume 1 has a front signature that is worn but holding well. Interiors show some light yellowing of the pages from age but otherwise is fine.
Each volume has its own sub-title as follows;
Vol 1 YOUNG WASHINGTON
Vol 2 YOUNG WASHINGTON
Vol 3 PLANTER AND PATRIOT
Vol 4 LEADER OF THE REVOLUTION
Vol 5 VICTORY WITH THE HELP OF FRANCE
Vol 6 PATRIOT AND PRESIDENT
Vol 7 FIRST IN PEACE
