This four-volume set is simply titled “ENCYCLOPEDIA OF THE CONFEDERACY” with Richard N. Current as chief editor and Paul D. Escott, Lawrence N. Powell, James I. Robertson Jr, and Emory M. Thomas as an editorial board. The set was published by Simon & Schuster in 1993.

Each hardbound volume is covered in beautiful gray cloth with the title in bold blue ink within a border of gold stars on the front. Title and volume number repeated on the spine.

The four volumes meas. 8.50 x 11.00 inches with good clean covers in excellent condition. Volumes are paginated consecutively and run 1423 pages with all subjects arranged alphabetically.

Interiors are bright and clean and have numerous illustrations and photographs of the subjects discussed.

Dean S. Thomas was known as a onetime Gettysburg Battlefield Guide and early relic hunter as well as the founder, owner, and operator of Thomas Publications. He was also the author of many books related to Civil War ammunition and projectiles. [ad][ph:L]
