The full title of this unit history is “HISTORY OF THE FIRST BATTALION PENNSYLVANIA SIX MONTHS VOLUNTEERS AND THE 187TH REGIMENT PENNSYLVANIA VOLUNTEER INFANTRY” by James M. Gibbs and published by the Central Printing and Publishing House of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania in 1905.
Volume meas. approx. 6.00 x 9.00 inches and is bound in blue cloth with the title in gold and a red 5th Corps badge on the front cover. Title is repeated in gold on the spine with a worn Corps badge. Covers have slight edge wear at the corners and at top and bottom of the spine.
Interior runs 320 pages with roster. Binding is very good. Book has over 100 black & white photographs.
A good reading copy.
The 187th Pennsylvania was organized in Harrisburg on March 15, 1864. It served in the 5th Corps of the Army of the Potomac. They saw action throughout the Petersburg Campaign. [ad][ph:L]
