The full title of this volume is “HISTORY OF THE FORTY-NINTH NEW YORK VOLUNTEERS” by Frederick David Bidwell.
This volume was published in Albany, New York in 1916.
Volume is hardcover and meas. approx. 6.00 x 9.00 inches and runs 317 pages with roster and index. The volume also has several black & white illustrations.
Green cloth boards show minor wear if any and are covered in Mylar. Front cover has the title in gold with a lit torch within a laurel wreath. Interior is very good though the page edges have yellowed with age.
The 49th New York was organized in September of 1861 and served with the 4th and 6th Corps of the Army of the Potomac. They were engaged on the Peninsula, 2nd Bull Run, Antietam, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, Wilderness, Spotsylvania, Cold Harbor, Fort Stevens, Opequan, Winchester, Fisher’s Hill, Cedar Creek and Petersburg. The regiment lost 20 officers and 300 enlisted men killed, died of wounds and disease. [AD] [PH:L]
