The full title of this volume is “DUTY WELL DONE: THE HISTORY OF EDWARD BAKER’S CALIFORNIA REGIMENT (71ST PENNSYLVANIA INFANTRY)” by Gary G. Lash.
This large volume was published by Butternut & Blue of Baltimore, Maryland in 2001.
Volume is hardcover and meas. approx. 8.50 x 11.00 inches and runs 623 pages with index. The volume has numerous maps and black & white photographs of members of the regiment.
Dustjacket is wrapped in Mylar and is in excellent condition. Interior is very clean.
The 71st Pennsylvania was organized in August of 1861 and served with the 2nd Corps of the Army of the Potomac and were part of the famous “Philadelphia Brigade.” The regiment was engaged at Ball’s Bluff and all through McClellan’s Peninsula Campaign as well as Antietam, Fredericksburg, Gettysburg, Wilderness, Spotsylvania and Cold Harbor. During its time the regiment lost 15 officers and 245 enlisted men killed, died of wounds and disease. [AD] [PH:L]
