The 151st was organized in Lockport, NY, in October 1862. Posted to the Baltimore defenses it was detached for service in the Gettysburg, Campaign and later attached to the 3rd Corps and later the 6th Corps with the Army of the Potomac. From Bristoe Station (Oct. '63) through the initial phases of the Siege of Petersburg, it remained with AOP, transferred to Washington for the Monocacy Campaign and then to Sheridan's Army, and was engaged at Winchester, Fisher Hill and Cedar Creek, before returning for the concluding Appomattox Campaign. During service lost 106 men killed and mortally wounded and 100 by disease for a total of 206.
