Winfield Scott Hancock was the famed Union Second Corps commander who ran later as the losing Democratic candidate in the 1880 election. . This book was one of seven books in the “shoulder strap” series published by Mark Twain’s nephew Charles Webster. Others include Grant, Sherman and Sheridan’s memoirs, as well as George Custer’s “Tenting On the Plains.”
