History was written by O. B. Curtis and published in 1891. Volume is green cloth hardbound with the title in gold on the cover and spine. Covers show heavy edge wear. Spine has one small minor split near bottom of the title. Covers also have some minor rub marks. Front seam is split along second page but not loose. Back seam is good.
Volume runs 483 pages with index. Binding is good. Pages have some toning along edges. Text contains numerous maps and woodcut illustrations.
The 24th Michigan was the last regiment to join the famous “Iron Brigade” and was received by the veterans in the other regiments in the Brigade with some skepticism, however, in a short time they showed that they were worthy to bear the reputation for hard fighting that the rest of the Brigade had earned in earlier battles.
This is a hard to find regimental and the first original copy we have seen in 20 years. [ad]
