Full embossed morocco, 9.5 x 12”, raised bands, gilt cover & spine lettering, w/all edges gilt. Exhibits slight wear at the corners, else fine. An exceptionally handsome copy, very scarce, seldom seen in this condition. The extra-engraved title indicates “Vol. 1”, but there is no evidence that a second volume was ever published. Contains seventy-five superb prints of all the major players in the Union Army, each accompanied w/ two biographical sketch. Magnificent collectible, nicely priced. [jp]
