ARTILLERY GIMLET FOR FIELD GUNS

$65.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 2024-2318

The "gimlet" was intended to be used to remove broken pieces of friction primers from the vent. It could also serve as a priming wire to poke a hole in the powder bag. This one is in good condition.

This piece is unmarked.  The loop measures 2” in diameter and the overall length is 10.5”.  This shorter length would have been for field guns with thinner diameter barrels.

This implement has a dark patina with some very light surface rust. [jet] [ph:L]
