Very nice condition leather fuse pouch. The leather of the outer flap is in very good condition.  There is some crazing on the top “hinge” area of the flap. There is a deep “US” stamp on the front and two small holes where something may have once been applied. Lightly stenciled on the underside of the outer flap is “HEIMAN”. Maybe Bennett Heiman of the 4th NYHA, but no way to be sure. The latch tab is stitched to the underside of the flap and is complete and unbroken, although somewhat crinkled.

The interior flap is even nicer than the outer one. It is complete with both ears firmly stitched in place. The body of the box and the two belt loops on the back are also in very fine shape and show only light use. All stitching is complete and unbroken. The bottom of the box has a brass finial with a nice patina. Belt loops are stitched, with no rivets.

An excellent example of a Civil War artilleryman’s fuse pouch.  [jet][ph:L]
