This is a very well-done and accurately detailed scale model of a 12-pounder English Whitworth Rifle as used by the Confederates at Gettysburg in 1863; specifically Hardways Alabama Artillery.
The wood base has two metal plaques that read, “WHITWORTH RIFLE / 12 PDR. BREECHLOADING / C.S.A. / HARDWAYS ALABAMA ARTILLERY / GETTYSBURG, PA. 2-3 JULY 1863” and “HAND CRAFTED by / RUSSELL A.NORGAN / GETTYSBURG, PENNA. / Limited Edition ser. no. 8 of 25”.
Model of cast metal, painted black and olive drab. Overall length of cannon is approximately 19.5", with 13” barrel. Wheelbase is 8.5”, and wheels are 7.25” in diameter. Complete with a separate rammer, worm, and prolong pole. Breech actually unscrews and opens.
A very fine replica. [jet] [ph:L]
