Small leather box to hold friction primers were carried on the belt (past terminology designated this type box as a Navy fuse box). The box is relatively square in shape to accommodate the shape of the friction primer packs. Single wide belt loop, brass finial, and outer flap to cover the contents. Manufacturer mark on the inner flap: "U.S.N.Y / BOSTON". This box is in good condition. The outer flap is smooth and clean with only minor wrinkling. There is no markings on outer flap. The latch tab has broken off at the point where it was sewn to the underside of the flap and is separate but included. All of the leather is soft and pliable and stitching is still tight. Other than the detached tab, this box is in very nice condition. [jet] [ph:L]
