Offered here is a very nice Hotchkiss artillery shell in fired and "dug" condition. Early pattern shell without flame grooves. A 3-inch projectile for Parrott and Ordnance rifles.
Shell is complete with all three sections in place. Iron is smooth and clean. Lead sabot clearly shows rifling from cannon barrel. Zinc fuse adaptor remains in perfect condition. [jet] [ph:L]
