Image is of the monument erected by the state of New Jersey in 1902 in memory of the regiments from the state who fought at Antietam.

The monument consists of a square base with a 40-foot column topped by a statue of an officer with raised sword. The statue at top represents Captain Hugh Irish of Company K, 13th New Jersey who was killed in action at Antietam. The monument stands near Miller’s Cornfield along the Hagerstown Pike.

Image has good clarity and contrast however the top half of the view has some scattered foxing.

Reverse has an old ink ID of “NJ ANTIETAM.” [ad] [ph:L]
