This is a Civil War U.S. Navy artillery tool. Wooden handle is marked with the US Navy symbol as well as the inspector’s mark, “W.H.R.” from the Newport, R.I. Navy Yard.
Wood handle retains much of its original finish with no cracks. Iron is still tightly attached to handle and has very light surface rust. Entire length measures 11 ¾’. [sm]
