This relic is an iron 6-pound solid shot recovered at Shiloh, Tennessee. The body is very smooth with only light scattered pitting.
Nicely written on the shot in white paint is “6lb / SOLID SHOT / SHILOH / TENN.” There is one small hole in the item that looks like a casting flaw.
With the shot is a letter of authenticity from a previous seller detailing the item’s recent history.
Fought on the 6th and 7th of April 1862, the battle cost the armies involved over 23,000 combined casualties.
Very nice relic from one of the greatest battles of the war.
