Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 302-37

This is a swivel bale, front seam, World War Two M1 steel helmet with the 29th Division insignia painted on the front. Paint is in nice condition with average wear from age and storage. Green woven chinstraps are sewn on the bales. Liner is wartime but has been repainted and has a name written on the outside back in black marker. Liner chinstrap is also present with black strap adjuster. Inside of liner shows moderate wear. The sweatband is dark from heavy use and is split in one area. Nape strap is also missing. Cannot see any makers mark in crown. The 29th Division is well known for its leading part in the D-Day invasion. They continued to fight their way through the hedgerow country and the breakout at St. Lo.

Helmet comes from the collection of a long time collector of World War One and Two items. He was a World War Two Navy veteran himself and died a few years ago. His original collector tag is attached. Helmets from the 29th Division are much sought after due to their D-Day connection.
