Presented here in fine original condition is a non-regulation cloth and silver bullion ‘Irish Harp’ insignia. Beautifully constructed, the insignia is constructed on a harp-shaped piece of thin paper or pasteboard base. Base is covered with a very finely detailed, well-executed, embroidered set of silver bullion. The bright silver bullion is folded over the pasteboard and glued to the stiff covering on the backside. This ‘Irish Harp’ insignia specimen is in very excellent condition, tight and strong and exhibits no pulls, fraying or blemishes. No loop fasteners visible on the backside. Highly desirable and difficult to find, this ‘Irish Harp’ cloth and bullion insignia is a superb example of a non-regulation hat device worn by a number of some many officer’s of Irish descent during the mid to late nineteenth century.
