Nearly identical to the M1855 socket bayonet, this rare Spencer bayonet has some differences worth noting. Most importantly, the Spencer measures 18.5”in length instead of 18”, and its rear fluted edge remains sharp and does not taper near the elbow as the M1855 bayonet does. Nor does the Spencer have the M1855 “US” marking below the fuller of the inner blade. In condition, the blade exhibits light pitting uniformly along the blade, and displays a deep plum-colored patina. The locking rings moves easily, and the over-all condition is VG.
