Item Code: 740-354

Minty Harpers Ferry arsenal 3rd production type specimen of the M1819 Hall’s Flintlock Rifle never altered to percussion. This single-shot, rifled, breechloading longarm measures 52½” long with a 32 5/8” long round barrel. Chambered for a .52 caliber round, the breechblock pivots upward for loading and is released via a lever device (a.k.a. fishtail) that protrudes from the bottom of the stock forward of the trigger. Iron mountings and barrel retains all of its original factory acid-browning which is protected by a lacquer coating that gives a pleasing, smooth hard finish overall. Barrel has a small front sight that serves the angular bayo. Open plain notch rear sight sits atop the receiver surface in front of the upper barrel band. Both sights are offset to the left to allow for sighting past the old flintlock pan and frizzen. Barrel bore is deeply rifled with sixteen lands and grooves set in a clockwise direction. Rifling is clean, sharp and bright and extends to within 1½” of the muzzle.

Breechblock retains just traces of its case colors. Top flat of breechblock is marked “J. H. HALL / H. FERRY / US / 1839”. All letters / numerals deep and clear. Traces of color found on the hammer. Black walnut full-length stock is 49½” long and is in superlative original condition. Has just few normal dings and dents due to age. No cartouche visible. Entire stock exhibits a pleasing patina. The 8 1/8” long, iron triggerguard plate has the characteristic ‘pistol grip’ set to the rear of the guard bow. An iron sling swivel is riveted forward of triggerguard with a second swivel riveted at the middle barrel band. Double-branched upper band also holds the steel, convex button-head ramrod. Barrel is secured to the stock via three-barrel bands each using a pin fastener. No band springs. Rifle comes with its accompanying Hall socket bayonet in excellent condition. All metal is a pleasing semi-bright light gray scheen. An extraordinary condition unaltered M1819 percussion US Hall’s rifle specimen.
