Steel model 1916 German helmet with a beautifully done brown, green and mustard colored camouflage pattern painted on the outside. Colors are separated by a dark line giving the helmet a tortoise shell appearance. Almost all of the camouflage paint remains with only small spots of wear from age, use and storage.
Interior liner is complete with the three leather covered pillows. Size and maker stamp inside is “NJ 62.” Leather liner shows light wear.
A wire has been attached through the air vents for hanging the helmet on a wall but can easily be removed.
An early collectors tag attached to the liner reads “GERMAN WW1 MOD. 1916 STEEL TRENCH HELMET ORIGINAL PERIOD CAMOUFLAGE PAINT COLORS. / “FALL” PATTERN VERTICAL LINE CAMOUFLAGE.”
Helmet lacks the chinstrap but the mounts are present.
This helmet is from the collection of the late Robert Jones who was a World War Two Navy veteran who became interested in World War One as a child and collected as an adult.
Really a fantastic looking helmet with an untouched appearance. [ad]
