Nice pair of Model 1911 cavalry spurs. This style spur was introduced in 1911 and was used until cavalry became motorized in World War II. This same style spur was issued to both officers and enlisted men.
Marked inside, “U.S W.L.” and “U.S. A.B.” for August Buermann, a Civil War veteran who, at that time, owned the largest firm that patented bits and spurs. Each measures 5 ½” total length x 4” wide. Patina is mostly bright with some darkened areas. Each has original buckle present. [sm]
