This is a 1/6 plate daguerreotype photograph in a “Union” hard case. The thermoplastic case is in excellent condition. Two brass hinges and catch all in good order. Both halves of hard case match in size and brown color. The gutta percha case features a design called “Birds at the Fountain”.
On the interior, one side has pressed velvet lining and the other side a strikingly clear image of a well-dressed woman seated next to a studio table. Her dress features lace details and a few pieces of jewelry are visible. Image is under glass and features the typical copper mat and frame assembly.
A sharp image set in a nice “Union” case. [jet] [ph:L]
