Westerwald pottery or stoneware is a distinctive type of salt glazed, grey pottery from the Höhr-Grenzhausen and Ransbach-Baumbach area of Westerwaldkreis in Rheinland, Germany. It is known as “Kannerbackerland” stoneware. Typically decorated with cobalt blue painted designs.

Large liquid stoneware jug salt glazed grey color with simple light blue scroll design. Jug measures approx. 12 ¼” high x 4 3/8” at base. Middle section measures 7 ½” wide. Small chip at base, otherwise a nice example.  [ws]
