Brown leather sling made for use on the M1861 and M1863 Springfield Rifle Musket and its contracts. Leather shows some light signs of age and use but is still soft and pliable. One end has a sewn leather belt loop while the opposite end has a brass hook for adjusting size. Still readable stamping of “WATERVLIET ARSENAL” appears just behind the sewn keeper. There are also the initials “W C” carved into the leather near the mid-point. This area of the sling also has a surface scratch that meas. approx. 4.50 inches long. Only the free moving leather slide is missing.
