MASSACHUSETTS MILITIA WAIST BELT PLATE

$1,250.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 729-44

This cast brass plate is similar in shape to the Model 1851 eagle sword belt plate however this plate bears the Massachusetts coat of arms and is slightly convex. The reverse has a narrow applied tongue.

These plates are believed to have been produced starting in 1865. None have been excavated in wartime campsites or battlefields. It is still a rare plate from the period and not often encountered.

Plate is in very nice condition with fine detail and a light patina on all surfaces.
