This pre-Civil War militia belt is made of white woven cloth material and meas. approx. 2.00 inches wide. There is a good bit of surface dirt on the belt but it is full length with a thing brass wire keeper on the end opposite the plate.
The plate has been attached by running the belt through the keeper on the back of the plate and then pinning it to itself.
The panel plate has a spread-winged eagle at center surrounded by 13 five-pointed stars with a patriotic shield at center bottom superimposed over an olive branch.
This particular plate was produced from 1850-1865.
