U.S. .58 CALIBER WILLIAMS PATENT BULLET FROM GETTYSBURG

$25.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 173-3013

This is a Civil War “cleaner” bullet and was known as the Williams Type II bullet. Invented and patented by Elijah Williams, this bullet utilized zinc washers and a plunger to engage the rifling inside the musket barrel. Nice white patina. Beautiful condition.

This was recovered from Little Round Top at Gettysburg by local resident John Cullison, who excavated relics on the field from 1935-1959. Cullison sold his collection to the famed Gettysburg Rosensteel family, who held the primary collection of Gettysburg artifacts.  [jet]
