This woven cloth drum sling is approx. 2.00 inches wide x 40.00 inches long. The cloth is doubled over and ends with a spade shaped leather tab that once held a snap hook for attaching a drum. The hook is missing and the leather has dried some but it is still in good condition. The cloth of the sling has light surface dirt and some minor fraying scattered along the edges.
This item is from the collection of the well-known Lee’s Headquarters Museum which closed its doors in late 2014. The museum opened in the 1920’s and stood on US Route 30 just west of Gettysburg.
This item was listed in a museum inventory that dated from the 1930’s or 40’s.
