This pair of Civil War period brass US Cavalry spurs is in nice, complete, untouched condition. The arms, yokes and rowels all have a nice dark patina on their surfaces. Both rowels are present and though lightly rusted look to be complete. Both turn freely.
These spurs were once part of the well-known and now defunct Shields Museum that stood on McPherson’s Ridge just west of Gettysburg along Route 30 West. The museum housed a fantastic collection of Gettysburg artifacts before it was broken up and sold at auction in the 1980’s.
