This Colt Navy size flask has a good, untouched patina. The face of the flask is decorated in relief with a pair of crossed revolvers at top, with an arc of thirteen stars and a band of sun-rays underneath. The rays spread between the upright wings of an American eagle and two stars have drifted down beneath the tips of its wings on either side. The eagle has a U.S. shield at its front and grasps both arrows and olive branch. Large US flags with flag cords jut out on either side from behind it and the eagle seems perched on the barrel of an artillery piece. Cannonballs, a trumpet, and even an anchor are scattered on the ground beneath it.

All four split carrying rings are present in the fixed side loops and a narrow cord having some age is strong enough to hang it for display. The reverse shows some indentations and broad dents from carrying. The bottom shows some narrower dents and a narrow, hairline seam opening. The top is uncleaned, with some caked dirt and dust. The spout is slight bent. The thumbpiece and coiled spring are in place. A few white spots are mixed in the recesses on the reverse and bottom edge. A good flask for a Colt Navy.  [sr]
