Nice example of a classic Civil War Federal edged weapon that the US Ordnance Dept. designated the “Musician’s” sword. Made by the Ames Manufacturing Company in Chicopee, MA. Blade measures 28 1/8” long, marked “US/G.K.C./1864”; reverse side with standard Ames marking. Semi-bright blade with age spots. No rust/pitting. Nice brass hilt; knucklebow marked “G.W.C.”. Nice leather scabbard, strong stitching. No bends! Brass drag marked “A.H.C.” Nice clean example.
