This is an unissued example of the P-53 socket bayonet for Enfield rifles. He blade is approximately 17” long. Top of blade stamped “E / [crown] / 30”. The overall surface condition is excellent; much has a mirror-like shine; minor dark spotting. Socket and elbow retain original bluing. Locking ring and screw in perfect order.
The scabbard is likewise in very good condition. The “WD” (War Department) and broad arrow ordnance mark is clearly present, stamped into the leather below the brass throat. Leather is in excellent condition and seam stitching is firm and tight. The brass throat and tip show minor wear from storage. The scabbard tip is slightly loose. [jet]
