Blade measures approx. 21 7/8”. And is marked at ricasso in three lines, “Ames Mfg Co / Chicopee / Mass” with date 1860 on reverse. The brass handle is serial numbered “36654” which places it in the range of Sharps Rifles made with 36” barrels. Socket area has a few dings and dents. Blade is mostly a dark gray with a 1.5” section above the date with some moderate pitting. Other areas of blade with some minor to moderate pitting. Some areas of the blade edge have been lightly filed years ago to remove small nicks. A scarce bayonet!
